Chasing your dream is scary. Sometimes you don’t even know what your dream is. It can be hard to define, almost elusive. I’ve learned recently that’s ok. It’s ok to not know details, it’s ok to test ideas out. However, it’s not ok to give into fear and suppress those dreams. Holley Gerth, the author of You’re Made for a God-Sized Dream, has put so much into perspective for me. First off we have to face fear head on and give it a run for its money. She wisely states, “You will face fear. Fear is a response to a threat. It means there’s risk and something you value is on the line. If you don’t feel that way about your dream, then it’s not close enough to God’s calling for you.” God-Sized dreams are big and can be scary at times. We tend to think it’s selfish to strive for our big dream. It’s not. It’s God’s calling, His will for us, our purpose.
There is so much joy in the journey to achieving dreams. In reality, we think the end goal and finishing is the most important thing. The journey is how we grow and develop closer relationships. Our God has so much in store for us and we need to put our feet firmly on the ground and starting running towards Him.
“Have you ever tried to steer a parked car? It’s a tough proposition. Just get in gear and start heading down the road. The rest will work itself out as you go.” -Holley Gerth

Moving into a new apartment is exciting + a little scary. Change can be an intimidating thing if you let it. Throughout the past four years I have tried to embrace change as much as possible. In four years, I moved from Raleigh, North Carolina to Charleston, South Carolina for college, lived in three different apartments (plus the dorm) downtown, two jobs, three internships, graduated college, moved into an apartment by myself and have started a new season in life. There has been a lot of change happening around me lately. Sometimes change is scary, sometimes it is exciting. You determine which of those it is. I have always loved change, I love the excitement, I love new. However, recently I realized that I was so excited about the next thing that I wasn’t embracing and taking advantage of the season I was in. I was so ready for what was coming that I was overlooking what was right in front of me. This is something I need to work on. It will be a challenge and I may forget from time to time but I trust that the Lord has me exactly where he wants me and will get me to the place he wants me when the time is right. I trust in The Lord. I trust in His timing. I am where I need to be so I must live in this moment in this place.
” As humans, we’re all tempted to just ‘move on to the next thing.’ But it’s important to stop and reflect on how far we’ve come and how much God has done on our behalf. ”

This is my starting point for all organic skin products in 2016! It is not going to be the easiest journey but so worth it in the end.
The perfect rainy day cure is a hot cup of coffee from Hominy Grill. A few steps away from the shop makes it dangerously convenient.
